Nature has always been at the heart of my work. Every collection begins with careful observation of the plants, wildlife and landscapes that inspire me. As SassiNiemand continues to grow, I want some of that artwork to do more than celebrate nature. I want it to do more than celebrate nature. I want it to help advocate for it too.
This page brings together the conservation projects, fundraising initiatives and nature-inspired collections that form part of that commitment. As the initiative grows, new projects and partnerships will be added here.
Why This Matters
I came across a term ecological misanthropy. While it may sound severe, the idea behind it resonated with me: the growing sadness and frustration many people feel when they witness the continuing loss of wildlife and the damage being done to the natural world.
My creative process is always grounded in the outdoors, beginning with observation, curiosity and my phone close at hand to capture those moments of inspiration before they disappear. That same appreciation for nature has gradually grown into a desire for my artwork to do more than celebrate the natural world. I hope it also encourages people to value and protect it.
This way of thinking has grown gradually through experiences that have deepened my appreciation for conservation, from supporting initiatives such as the Sea Change Project to being inspired by My Octopus Teacher and, more recently, Remarkably Bright Creatures. Together, they reinforced something I had already begun to feel: that creativity can be more than an expression of beauty. It can also be a way of encouraging people to value the natural world.
Advocating for Nature Through Art is my commitment to bringing those two passions together. It is about creating artwork that celebrates nature while, wherever possible, helping to raise awareness and support conservation through carefully chosen projects and partnerships.
How SassiNiemand Will Support Nature
This commitment will continue to grow over time, but it is built around a few simple principles.
Celebrating nature through design will always remain at the heart of my work. Every collection is created to encourage people to notice the beauty, diversity and remarkable details of the natural world.
Supporting conservation where possible is an important part of this journey. Selected products and collections will contribute towards organisations and projects working to protect wildlife and natural habitats. Whenever fundraising is involved, I will always be transparent about how contributions are made and who they support.
Sharing knowledge and practical action is another part of this commitment. Through my blog and Nature Notes, I hope to encourage simple ways that we can all help wildlife, whether that’s creating wildlife-friendly gardens, supporting conservation projects or making small changes that benefit the environment.
Building meaningful partnerships is a longer-term goal. As this initiative develops, I hope to collaborate with conservation organisations, charities and businesses that share a genuine commitment to protecting the natural world.
Current Conservation Projects
Each project below tells its own story, explains the conservation work it supports and, where applicable, how fundraising contributions are made.
Explore the projects below to discover how individual collections and products are helping to support conservation, raise awareness and celebrate the natural world.
Transparency
Whenever a product supports a conservation organisation, I’ll clearly explain how contributions are calculated, which organisation is being supported and how the funds are donated. Transparency is an important part of this initiative because I believe trust matters just as much as good intentions.
