Hi, I’m Lisette Niemand, a UK-based surface pattern designer and the artist behind SassiNiemand.
I create nature-inspired surface pattern designs for wallpaper, fabric, home interiors, fashion accessories and stationery. My work is built around thoughtfully developed collections designed for licensing, commercial production and print-on-demand platforms.

What I do
As a professional surface pattern designer, I develop both cohesive collections and standalone feature prints designed to work across multiple surfaces.
Where collections are created, they are carefully structured to include:
- Hero patterns with strong visual identity
- Coordinating blenders and supporting prints
- Considered colour palettes
- Scalable repeat formats suitable for multiple applications
This approach allows my designs to move seamlessly between wallpaper, upholstery, quilting cotton, fashion accessories, murals and stationery, ensuring flexibility for both licensing partners and print production.
How I Work
Inspiration begins outdoors. I spend a great deal of time walking in the countryside with my Labrador, tending my garden and observing the quiet details of seasonal change.
Birdwatching and nature photography play an important role in my creative process. Studying feather patterns, plant structures, shifting light and natural colour combinations allows me to gather reference material that later evolves into structured repeat designs.
From initial sketch to seamless repeat, every surface pattern design is hand drawn, original and created without AI.
